The Town Clerk provides administrative support to the Town Council, Town Manager, and other town departments. The Clerk also assists management, supervisors, and employees in solving personnel problems that require the interpretation of policies and practices. The Clerk serves as initial contact to individuals seeking assistance or information about the town or town services. The Clerk prepares and maintains agendas and minutes of Town Council meetings in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. The Clerk is required to fulfill many different roles, such as Assistant Finance Officer, Assistant Budget Officer, and Payroll Clerk.
The Clerk also prepares job vacancy notices and distributes them to the proper agencies, administers the fringe benefits programs for employees including insurance programs, retirement participation, leave policies, maintains office equipment, handles enrollment and orientation of employees, and provides clerical support to various town departments and the Town Council. The Clerk also coordinates the recruitment and selection process with respective selecting supervisors, performs a variety of budget figures and periodic reports, prepares and maintains various financial reports and records.
